Creativity and Maker Spaces

PART ONE. 20% Project

  • Your 2nd & 3rd postings are fantastic than I ever imagined! Also, your comments to your classmates’ blog postings are amazingly constructive.
  • Please make sure you complete the all activities that are assigned to each class.
  • Individual Feedback + commenting/replying

PART TWO.

We’re starting a new topic today – Creativity and Innovation – and we’re going to learn about it by turning our classroom into a MakerSpace for the next several weeks.  Let’s learn a bit more about Maker Spaces:

The idea of Maker Spaces aligns nicely with the NETS for Creativity and Innovation:

Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology.

Students:

a. apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes.
b. create original works as a means of personal or group expression.
c. use models and simulations to explore complex systems and issues.
d. identify trends and forecast possibilities.

Our goal for the next several weeks is to do as much of this as possible. Today we’ll participate in a maker space that supports traditional creativity activities. Next time, we’ll explore digital media through the development of stop animation videos.

FOR THURSDAY:

1. Read more about MakerSpaces. Click here to view the MakerSpace Playbook (pdf) Read Chapters 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, and 11 (they are really short, I promise). And then, complete this form.
